screenings:
1.) Handwriting Screening- A quick 10-15 minute screening will evaluate your child’s handwriting for letter formation, sizing, visual-spatial skills and line orientation. The cost for this screening is $25. (*Please note- There is a lot that goes into handwriting skills and a referral may be made for a full OT Evaluation if recommended by our Occupational Therapists.)
2.) Speech & Occupational Therapy Screeners - 10-20 minute screening to evaluate if a further Evaluation is required for either discipline. Cost of the screener would be applied to an Evaluation if needed. The cost is $60 per screener and will be applied to a comprehensive evaluation if needed.
Occupational therapy , PHYSICAL THERAPY & SPEECH THERAPY evaluations:
*ALL EVALUATIONS REQUIRE A $50 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT TO HOLD YOUR CHILD’S EVALUATION APPOINTMENT.
Therapy Comprehensive Evaluation (OT, PT & Speech) - This evaluation takes approximately 60-90 minutes to complete and incorporates the use of standardized testing (ex. Beery-VMI, DTVP-4, Sensory Processing Measure, BOT, Peabody, Sensory Profile, CELF, PLS-5,...etc.) as well as clinical observations. Parents/Caregivers will receive a multi-page written report with our clinical recommendations. Our optimal delivery of results would be in person in order to go over the evaluation results and recommendations as well as have parent/caregiver input towards treatment plan and goals. However, we are accommodating to all family needs and can deliver results via mail, e-mail as well as over the phone. The cost for this evaluation is $250.00.

After an thorough evaluation, Sensory Stars Pediatric Therapy will make recommendations based off your child's individualized needs and look forward to working with your family in order to develop functional goals for your child's plan of care. The evaluating Therapist will determine the need of services and what the frequency of services will be each week. Sensory Stars Pediatric Therapy prides itself looking at the "whole-child" and believes in the child-directed approach along with sensory motor based interventions. The unique approach to therapy sessions is often viewed as "What are they doing? It looks like they are just Playing!"
Why does it just look like we are playing ?!
Your child's main occupation is PLAY and PLAY is very motivating for children. Play is how your child learns and develops their skills for home, school & the community!!! We utilize toys and games in a therapeutic way and specifically set up the environment in order to promote participation and build fundamental skills.
COSTS:
Private pay sessions cost:
$70.00 per half hour
$105.00 for 45 minutes
and $140.00 for one hour sessions.
We also accept PT, OT, SLP & Parent Training clients through Nassau County CPSE !
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Our office requires a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellations. If an appointment is canceled with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged a $60.00 cancellation fee. If you "no-show" for your scheduled appointment, you will be charged the full fee of the session ( *see rates above). All cancellation fees must be paid before the start of your next appointment! If there are three consecutive visits missed, it will be considered that you are not in compliance with your plan of care for your child's therapy services and your child will be discharged from our office.
LISTENING PROGRAM
Our Occupational therapists are certified in the Integrated Listening Systems (iLS) for the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) . Our Listening Program requires the child to already be receiving occupational therapy services as the listening program is not a stand alone service.
“Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a five-day auditory intervention designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience. Based on Dr. Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, by calming the physiological and emotional state, the door is opened for improved communication and more successful therapy.
The SSP is a research-based therapy showing significant results in just five days in the following areas:
Social and emotional difficulties
Auditory sensitivities
Anxiety and trauma related challenges
Inattention

Cost Breakdown:
-$300 for Initial Appointment in office
-Free 15 minute follow up appointment with return of equipment to go over any questions or concerns.
- Refreshers are sometimes needed after a few months- we offer this to our current clients for only $200 !
HANDWRITING Help: Individual sessions
We are currently utilizing Handwriting without Tears protocol for handwriting sessions. This unique sensory motor approach allows for success in developing fine motor skills, visual motor skills and visual perceptual skills required for handwriting. We teach children how to write in print & cursive. Call our office to inquire more information about our handwriting sessions: $40 dollars per half hour session, or bundle & save for 10 sessions for only $360.
*These sessions can also be done via teletherapy!
sOCIAL MOTOR GROUPS
Our Social Motor Groups are run by Occupational and/or Speech Therapists to target social skills, sharing, fine motor and gross motor skills through games, stories, dancing, sensory bins, crafts as well as obstacle courses and sports in our therapy gym. All group classes require a quick 10–15-minute free screener to determine appropriate placement.
Little Dippers Social Motor Group - Ages -2-4 years old - Saturdays 9am-10am - Cost $62.50/class or 10 class bundle for $575
Big Dippers Social Motor Group- Ages 3-5 years old- Saturdays 10am-11am- Cost $62.50 or 10 class bundle for $575
Rockstar Social Skills Group- Ages 2-3 - Weekly with AM & PM classes available - Current class openings are on Wednesday Morning- 10am-10:45am- Cost is $45/class or 10 class bundle for $400.
Bootcamp GROUP
Star Squad - ages 5+ - TBD for time/dates
Group members will participate in “Boot camp” style team HIIT exercises as well as team building games to target gross and fine motor skills. *Members need to be able to follow multi-step directions consistently.
